There are several Championship Link Course in the area. The closest being Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! Saunton Golf Club that sits the other side of the estuary and, further afield St Enadoc at Rock near Padstow in Cornwall. These courses are a mecca for avid golfers across the globe, busy all year round and host many National Tournaments. You’ll need handicap certification and should attempt to book a tee as soon as possible
Royal North Devon or RND as the locals know it hugs the coastal path going out and returns through the Northam Burrows. At 150 years it can boast being the Oldest Golf Course in England. The only changes over that time have been due to coastal erosion. It’s a raw golf course and a true test even with no wind, and that is a rare event. The views across the estuary and burrows are truly stunning and are difficult to rival. The old rustic locker rooms are a must visit before you settle down in the bar that pleasantly slips you back to a bygone era with its décor and museum. The views are here also as you look out across the course to the coast.
Saunton offers 2 courses, the East and the West. The East is the oldest and the championship course that although slightly sheltered from the coast can still get very windy and is tight with long unforgiving grass with several blind shots. While the West is laid out differently it is a very enjoyable challenging course. The East is hard to book a tee so the West may be the only option available to you but do not be disappointed as both are fantastic. The clubhouse has all the modern amenities with the bar having a very commanding view overlooking the final hole of the East Course.

This fabulous old course at Rock in Cornwall, opposite side of the Camel estuary from Padstow. It is hilly, very tight, and unpredictable course yet still flawlessly sits naturally in the stunning surroundings. This truly James Braid Classic finishes a trio of breathtaking golf courses. When the golf is over deliberate in the beautiful clubhouse that also makes the most of its setting.
